A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, following a fight outside the bus station.

Police were called at 2.30pm to reports of a fight involving two men.

The fight left one man, 40, needing hospital treatment and officers arrested a 30-year-old man.

"We received a 999 call just after 2.30pm today to a report of two men fighting in the area behind the bus station and near to Zurich Insurance," said a police spokesman.

"The ambulance service attended the scene and a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with a chest injury."

Four police cars remain at the scene and officers have cordoned off an area of car park behind the Zurich office building beside Milford Street.

Detective Sergeant Scott Anger said: “An extensive investigation is already under way, and we are appealing for anyone who was in the Fleming Way area of Swindon around 2pm and 2.30pm today to get in touch if they saw two men involved in an altercation.

“We believe this took place by the men’s toilets at the back of the bus station and near Zurich offices.

“If you witnessed the incident, please call police on 101.”

A 30-year-old man is in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
