STAFF from the Bridal Boutique in the town centre unveiled an impressive window display yesterday which featured a red wedding dress covered in 250 handmade poppies.

The display was made by the shop's sales consultant Charlotte Boswell to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Charlotte's father served in the RAF and two of her brothers are serving in the army so the display was a labour of love for her.

Charlotte said: "We are really proud and humble to show our respect for armed forces personnel past and present.

"Last year we had a display with a military uniform and a a cascade of poppies over an ivory wedding dress.

"This year we wanted to do something a little bit different while still having a striking window display.

"I'd seen an image of a similar dress a couple of years ago so I wanted to make one, the poppies took 14 hours to make."

Jane Watts, owner and proprietor of the Bridal Boutique, was stunned by Charlotte's efforts.

She said: "I was speechless when I first saw it, she's done an amazing job.

"The window was covered while she worked on it so I didn't see the dress until it was finished.

"We've already had a few comments about it and several people stopping outside as they walk by.

"It's nice when they recognise the hard work that's gone into it and what Remembrance Sunday is all about."
