A MAN who is accused of a series of offences including two burglaries has been released on bail by a judge.

Gerald Hicks is said to have stolen £2,200 from a man on Friday, April 21, and handling the man's bank card on the same day.

The following Thursday he is said to have burgled a flat on Deerhurst Way, Toothill, and two days later a house on Ravenglass Road, Westlea.

No charges were formally put to the 45-year-old, of Deerhurst Way, and he did not enter any pleas during an appearance at Swindon Crown Court.

Judge Robert Pawson adjourned the case to Friday, November 24, and released him on bail to abide by a night time curfew.

Godfrey Moyo, 40, of George Street, pleaded not guilty to using a debit card belonging to a woman to buy drinks and get cash. 

However, at a trial at Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 23 he was found guilty. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £400. He was also convicted for a second offence of taking a purse belonging to Ms Hargreaves. 

Moyo was ordered to undertake 12 alcohol treatment sessions.

A 22-year-old man has been jailed for 28 days for a string of offences relating him damaging the wing mirrors of several cars.

Richard McCarthy, of Brookcote Drive, Bristol, admitted carrying out the offences in the town in April as well as assaulting a detention officer.

McCarthy was told to pay £200 to each of his three victims and £85 court costs.

An Eldene man who was caught in possession of cannabis has been fined.

Sean Stapleton, of Aymer Place, was found to have 1.8g of cannabis when he was stopped by police in June.

The 45-year-old has been fined £135 and told to pay an additional £115 towards court costs and victim services.

Jason Matthews, of Courtenay Road, Walcot has been handed a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 24 months for breaching a restraining order.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and was told he must continue to abide by the restraining order and pay £200 towards court costs and victim services.

Magistrates fined Lewis Kirk £500 after deciding the threatening behaviour he used towards a victim in an incident in the town on September 13 was aggravated by hostility towards their sexual orientation.

Kirk, 21, of Hatherleigh Road, Rumney, Cardiff, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared in the dock at Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 17. He also admitted failing to surrender to the court for a hearing on October 4. The bench fined him a total of £750 and added a £50 victim surcharge as well as £85 prosecution costs.

A man accused of using force or fraud to take another man away against his will is to be tried at crown court.

Conor Ricaud, 22, is also accused of assaulting his victim and having 52 wraps of diamorphine in his possession with intent to supply. The offences are alleged to have happened in Swindon in July.

Ricaud of Rushey Hill, Enfield, London, appeared in the dock before magistrates on October 17 and was remanded on conditional bail until his crown court appearance on November 10.

Pawel Chuchra is to face trial at Swindon Crown Court on a charge of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Chuchra, aged 27, of Neilsland Drive, Motherwell, Lanarkshire, denies the allegation that he had the class B drug in a flat in Farriers Close, Swindon, on April 26 with the intention of supplying it to others.

But he admitted a charge of possession. He was remanded in custody by the town magistrates on October 17 and will appear before a judge by videolink on November 10.

Tyrone Lee, O’Neill, 29, of Maitland Road, will be tried at Swindon Crown Court for causing actual bodily harm and breaking the terms of a restraining order.

He was bailed, subject to curfew, and will be tried on November 17.

An Old Town man appeared before magistrates charged with being the registered owner of an uninsured vehicle.

Liam Neil J Matthews, 22, of Erin Court, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 20.

The hearing was adjourned until February 23, 2018, when it will be heard at North Somerset Magistrates Court.

The mother and father of a pupil at Ruskin Junior School, Stratton, was fined £108 after taking his child out of school for seven days in June.

The parents pleaded guilty to taking their son out of school Each parent, neither of whom can be named for legal reasons, was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £75 when they appeared before Swindon magistrates on October 23.

A Walcot thief has been given a community order. 

Kerry-Anne Phelps, 42, of Lyndhurst Crescent, pleaded guilty to stealing fragrance box sets from Boots. The stolen gift sets, in total worth £702, were taken in four trips over a week-long period last month. 

Phelps, who appeared before Swindon magistrates on October 23, was ordered to pay compensation of £431 and told to complete treatment for drug addiction over a 30 day period.
