KINGSDOWN Golf Club's female players are celebrating a stellar 2017 which saw them haul in a collection of county trophies.

On the team front, the Handicap A team won Division One of the Handicap League and added the county Handicap Knockout prize, while the Handicap B Team were runners up in Division Two.

Val McFarlane was crowned senior county champion for the second year running, with Jan Scott the runner up and claiming the Wadworth Challenge Cup (best nett) prize followed by Maura Coughlan and McFarlane, while Sue Dix won the Hutchinson Cup.

The ladies Scratch team were runners up in the county final knockout, while in Wiltshire’s county championships, Scott won the Barber Dish having scored the best nett over 36 holes.

Katie Dove-Medows and Scott reached the last 16 of the county matchplay knockout, Dove-Medows finishing runner up in the second-flight Gillian Wood Trophy.

For golfers with 21-36 handicaps, Lesley Hooper won Division Two in the county Coronation Medal, while Viv Monument won the county Foursomes Knockout with her partner Janet Bailes, from Bowood.

Kingsdown, near Box, has seen a surge in lady members joining over the last few years, with new members welcome at any time.
