Santa Claus is coming to town on a festive double-decker bus with the launch of a free family event at Orbital next month.

Santa's mobile grotto will be parked at the shopping centre on Saturday, December 2, from 10am to 6pm, then return on Sunday, December 3, from 11am to 5pm.

Families will be able to create their own postcard in the Christmas craft workshop before meeting Santa himself and getting a picture with the jolly old man.

Food stalls will be serving a range of seasonal treats, including including pulled port, turkey and beef sandwiches, and waffles.

Jamie Turner, centre manager at Orbital, said: “This year Santa has swapped his sleigh for some wheels, and we can’t wait to see the look on our shoppers’ faces when they see our big red bus parked up.

“While on board, our team of little helpers will be encouraging children to decorate their postcards which they can either take them home or give to Santa to take back to the North Pole.

“Christmas is all about spending time with the your nearest and dearest, so we’re pleased to be offering all the family the chance to enjoy a range of free, creative festive activities.”

The events will run on a first come, first serve basis so people are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
