SWINDON College has been celebrating this week after topping a national league table based on employer satisfaction rates on its students.

The college also came joint first with New College and one other in the FE Week College League Tables for 2017 in the 16-18 positive progression category.

The category measures the percentage of students going into education, employment and training destinations after completing study of Level 3 qualifications.

The league table, currently in its second year, was devised by Nick Linford, the director of performance at Lewisham College who is the current Editor of FE Week.

The FE Week overall league table focuses on four categories with ten marks available in each. The categories cover learner satisfaction, employer satisfaction, 16-18 positive progression and adults into employment.

Swindon College scored 26 out of 40 overall, 10 for employer satisfaction, nine for 16-18 positive progression and seven for the adults into employment category.

Swindon College Principal Steve Wain said he was over the moon with the results.

“It is not every day that you see Swindon at the top of national performance tables,” he added.

“To see two colleges doing so well, at joint number one is just fantastic news and probably unprecedented. This key measure tells you what percentage of young people are positively employed or continuing in education at age 18.

“For Swindon to be doing so well is excellent news. I would like to thank all our hardworking staff for their commitment in making this possible”.

Swindon College offers people a whole range of courses including full-time and part-time courses for school leavers, apprenticeships, adult courses and even degrees, it is hoped their new ranking will encourage more people to apply.

Steve added: “This is really the icing on the cake for Swindon. With our colleges doing so well in two key national tables we are rightly very proud of what our colleges are doing in helping to serve the needs of our community. Another big thank you to all our colleagues for making this treble success possible.”
