A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a man in a car crash in Suffolk last year.

Josh Caines, 23, of Kingshill Road, appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court today accused of causing death by careless driving due to being under the influence of alcohol.

Caines entered no plea to the charge of causing the death of Ben Fulcher in Coddenham last October.

Mr Fulcher, 21, from Needham Market, died following the collision on the B1078.

Suffolk police were called to the crash at 11.10am. Mr Fulcher was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ipswich Star today reported that the counsel for the prosecution told the court that the car was found in a ditch on its roof, and that the defendant had left the vehicle and was not badly injured.

Caines was released on bail and will appear at Ipswich Crown Court on January 2.
