A FESTIVE mix of classic Christmas songs and traditional carols promises to bring seasonal cheer to a Swindon church – all for a good cause.

Christ Church will host the NSPCC’s annual Carols for Childline event on Wednesday and everyone is welcome to attend.

Performers include pupils from Commonweal, Croft Primary and Lethbridge Primary schools, while there will also be plenty of opportunities for audience participation.

Caroline Morgan, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “Christmas Carols for Childline is always a highlight of the events calendar for the charity in Swindon, and we are looking forward to another fantastic evening of festive fun.

“It will be wonderful to see all three schools perform together. We hope members of the public will come out in force to support these talented youngsters and to support the vital work of Childline by donating on the night.”

A child contacts Childline every 25 seconds, but currently only three out of four contacts can be answered due to a lack of resources. The NSPCC’s 2017 UK-wide ‘Light Up Christmas for Children’ campaign aims to tackle that gap in provision.

Entrance is free and doors open at 6.30pm with the concert starting at 7pm, with complimentary refreshments afterwards.
