TOTS at a North Swindon nursery have been putting their artistic skills to the test by taking part in a colouring competition.

Busy Bees Nursery in St Andrews Ridge teamed up with estate agents Atwell Martin to encourage the kids to come up with a fabulous Yuletide work of art.

The winner was three-year-old Ruben, whose Jackson Pollock-like creation was deemed the best by judges.

Nursey manager Nicky Eyles said: “Children were encouraged to take it with them and colour in a Christmas scene.

“They really enjoyed it and they loved showing off their work to others. All the kids came in really proud of what they had done, it was great to see.”

Ruben won a £50 Toys R Us voucher, a very valuable gift indeed at this time of year.

In total, 115 children took part.

Explaining what benefits such initiatives bring to children, Nicky said: “It helps to build their motor skills and helps them recognise Christmas.

“I think it made the festive period extra special for them.”

The competition was all part of Atwell Martin’s drive to build links with the local community after they recently opened a site in St Andrews Ridge.
