PUPILS from a new dance school performed in front of their proud parents at a Christmas show over the weekend.

About80 people squeezed into the British Conservative Club in Royal Wootton Bassett over two nights to watch the festive performances.

Charlotte Black, a former teacher at St Bartholomew’s Primary Academy, set up NST Dance in September and has already seen an impressive change in the skills and confidence of her first students.

She said: “It went extremely well, we got a lot of feedback from parents and they really enjoyed it.

“There were performances on Friday and Saturday, by the second night you could definitely see an improvement in the kids’ confidence.

“It had a nice Christmas feel to it and they did a speech at the end which was lovely.

“We’re looking forward to doing another one in the summer.”

The NST in NST Dance stands for Never Stop Trying - that optimistic and determined attitude is a key part of the school’s teaching methods.

Charlotte added: “I really wanted to push that anybody can be creative.

“It’s very relaxed, very friendly, there’s no pressure, and if it goes wrong, don’t give up.

“It’s all about team-building and confidence.

“I taught some of the pupils when I was at St Bart’s and they used to be so shy, so it’s nice to see that through dance they have been able to come out of their shell.

“It’s made an unbelievable difference, even their parents have mentioned noticing how they’ve changed, it’s really satisfying and rewarding.”
