POLICE are reminding residents to keep their cars and homes secure after vehicles in North Swindon were damaged and broken into.

They are appealing for information after ne'er-do-wells clearly lacking in Christmas spirit stole from unlocked vehicles.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "A number of residents in the North Swindon area have woken up to find items missing from their vehicles and an untidy search has taken place.

"The offenders, who are most definitely on Santa’s naughty list, are opportunist thieves who walk around in the dead of night trying door handles of cars.

"Sadly some of the vehicles have not been locked and this makes them an easy target especially when items are left on display.

"Please can people be reminded to ensure that their vehicles and homes are secure this festive season.

"Only one stranger is allowed in your home this weekend and he will be wearing a big red suit and will probably come down the chimney to give you presents, not take them away."

Police have also released CCTV of a drunk man who caused criminal damage to a car by kicking it repeatedly.

The full video clips can be viewed on the Swindon North police facebook page.

Anyone who can identify the people in the footage should contact PCSO Lee Hare on 101.
