SWINDON woke up to a dusting of snow this morning.
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for much of the county today as heavy rain turned into snow overnight.
While families took full advantage of the snow, motorists faced difficult journeys to work and further afield as the council worked round the clock to ensure the town's roads were gritted.
Thamesdown Transport's Swindon town services ran normally, however, due to the snowy road conditions some of their rural services were disrupted for much of the day.
The overnight high winds and snowy weather also caused hundreds of homes to lose power.
Energy firm SSE said that thousands of homes in Swindon, Marlborough and Tidworth areas lost electricity supply during Tuesday night and early Wednesday but most had power quickly restored by the morning.
The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warning until tomorrow afternoon, warning drivers to be aware of ice on the roads as temperatures set to drop to -1C overnight.
