The renowned, Swindon-based Wessex Male Choir has some vacancies for men and will be holding an open rehearsal from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Tuesday 16th January at their rehearsal venue at the Church of Christ the Servant, Abbey Meads, Swindon, SN25 4YX. Men are warmly invited to go along and find out what it’s like to sing in a top choir. Singing experience isn’t essential (neither is the ability to read music) but as Guy Edwards, one of the Choir’s management team warns, “singing in a good choir can be very addictive!”

Guy says, “with the best of intentions, we all make New Year’s resolutions, but very few people actually stick to them, probably because they don’t enjoy what they have resolved to do. But singing with a choir like the Wessex, is different: first of all, it’s great fun; it’s good for your heart, lungs, memory, and immune system; you can learn a new skill; build your confidence; and make new friends! What’s not to like?”

There have been numerous studies on the health benefits, so this is one resolution that is both good for you, and can be great fun. Recent studies have also shown that singing in a group is good for your mental health too.

‘The Wessex has a reputation for being one of the friendliest male choirs, but also one of the UK’s finest” says Guy, who joined the Choir in 2006 and wishes he had done so earlier. “January is a great time to join the Choir as we are about to start learning a lot of new songs.”

Even if you can’t make it to the open rehearsal on 16th January, the Choir would be happy to see you on any Tuesday evening. For more information, please see their website www.wessexmalechoir.co.uk.
