A SWINDON takeaway has raised £2,900 for charity after donating all profits from sales on Christmas Day.

Two Domino’s opened their doors to pizza-lovers on December 25.

And the takeaways made £1,450 in profit for the Teenage Cancer Trust, with the Domino’s Head Office matching the funds.

James Swift, franchisee for Domino’s in Swindon, said: “We are so pleased to be able to help Teenage Cancer Trust in their mission to raise funds, educate and support teenagers fighting cancer.

“A big thank you to our customers who have helped us to raise these funds whilst enjoying a delicious, piping hot pizza.

“Teenage Cancer Trust is a fantastic charity and we are delighted to have them as our charity partner.”

The pizza maker – which has bases in Old Town, Taw Hill, Windbrook Meadow and the West Swindon district centre - has previously donated to charity at a time of goodwill when back at Christmas 2016, the pizza giant managed to raise around £1,500 for Make Some Noise – a national charity that helps disadvantaged children and young people.

This year, the team decided to help the Teenage Cancer Trust which is the only UK charity dedicated to providing the best possible care and support for young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer.

The charity has 28 specialist Teenage Cancer Trust units in NHS hospitals across the UK, which are designed to provide young people with a sense of normality during their treatment, with expert nurses who understand what they’re going through.

Currently, the charity can only support around 50 per cent of young people with cancer, so it is expanding its network of nurses to reach every young person who needs them.

Laura Zabel, account manager at Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist nurses and youth support coordinators make a huge difference to the experience of young people with cancer in hospital.

“Despite all the hard work and progress we have made in supporting young people, we still have a long way to go.

“For every young person with cancer we help, there is another we can’t. Domino’s will be helping us reach these young people.

“Thank you to James and his team and also the Swindon community for this valuable donation.”
