Prospect Hospice is looking for new recruits for its Commercial Road charity shop.

People who would like to join the team who raise money for Prospect Hospice can find out more about volunteering for the charity at an open day in its shop on Commercial Road being held on Wednesday.

Throughout the day, a warm welcome and a hot drink will be on offer to would-be volunteers who come in for a chat to find out about volunteering in the shop.

Prospect Hospice’s voluntary services manager Graham Biggs said: “A volunteering shift of just four hours a week can make a significant difference to the services we can deliver to patients and their families in our community.

"The donations made to our shops and the generous support of our customers allow our shops to deliver more than £2m of the income needed to provide our services in Swindon and north east Wiltshire, so it shouldn’t be underestimated the value of every hour of volunteering that local people give to Prospect Hospice.”

He added that volunteering with the charity could open up new opportunities for people: “So if people are looking for a new and different challenge to start 2018 with, I’d say don’t hesitate, pop in and talk to the voluntary services team on Wednesday.

"You never know - it could be the start of a real change in your life.”
