MAGIC roundabout motorists face up to two months of roadworks, as a pedestrian and cycle crossing is updated.
An existing pelican pedestrian crossing on Queen’s Drive, near Burger King, will be replaced with a toucan crossing.
The new lights would allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road “safely” at the same time.
In a letter to councillors – shared at a meeting of South Swindon Parish Council’s planning committee on Tuesday night – Swindon Borough Council transport project manager Lynsey Turner, said that the work was funded from the Local Growth Fund and would help link the “Flyer” cycle routes with other cycle lanes in Swindon.
Works will begin on February 19 and are expected to last six – eight weeks.
Ms Turner told councillors: “Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained to all properties and businesses at all times, although some disruption to traffic may be unavoidable.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by these works.”
South Swindon parish councillors noted the plans, calling them “good for cyclists”.
