THE magic and mystery of Glen Miller is the title of a talk being given to members of the Rodbourne Community History Group tomorrow evening.

The popular local history group will welcome Bill King who will deliver the talk, delving in to the wartime success and the mysterious disappearance of the famous bandleader in 1944.

The swing era American big-band musician, arranger, composer, and bandleader famously disappeared while enroute to entertain US troops serving in France during the Second World War.

The talk will be held tomorrow night from 7pm in the Playgroup Room of the Even Swindon Community Centre on Jennings Street, Rodbourne.

Admission is £1 for members and £2 for guests with free refreshments.

The talk comes as the group prepares for another season of their immensely popular GWR Factory Tours around the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet. The tour is led by a Rodbournite with personal memories of working in the GWR factory, who will share a flavour of life in the works through their time there.

Places for the March and May tours have already completely sold out, but a few spaces remain on the tours being carried out on September 8 and 9, and December 1 and 2. Those wishing to book a place should email secretary@rodbournehistory.org or call 01793 616558.
