AIR ambulance medics were called to an Old Town football field last night to attend to a teenager following a cardiac arrest.
Paramedics were called to the Marlborough Lane Sports Centre at around 8.26pm after a 16-year-old collapsed during a football training session.
A teammate at the scene said: “He just collapsed out of nowhere. We’d been there for 20 to 25 minutes.”
Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service and and a SWIFT doctor could be seen on the all-weather Astroturf pitch at the sports centre.
Two double-crewed ambulances, including a paramedic officer car, were called to the scene, alongside several police units and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance helicopter.
The patient was flown to Southampton General hospital for further treatment.
