THE Ukey Dukes are a mix of acoustic and electric ukulele fans who are all about the party.

The six Ukulele players, plus the drummer, have played at a number of festivals including Minety and Cricklade and various charity gigs including The Festival of Christmas at the Bath Road Methodist Church in Swindon’s Old Town. The band were joined by The Rock Choir, led by Kate Benson and two young singers Morgan and Sienna, all performing in aid of Swindon Carers, the chosen charity of the Mayor of Swindon Coun Maureen Penny and STEP, the Swindon 10 to 18 Project.

The concert, which was organised by Alan Holmes from Holmes Music, raised £2,030 for the charities. Paul Dobson from STEP said: “The Festival of Christmas is one of our biggest and most appreciated fundraisers. The hard work of Alan and the artists who give their time for free is hugely appreciated.’’ The festival was sponsored by Persimmon Homes Wessex through its Community Champion initiative.

The Ukey Dukes will be back again strumming up some party tunes on Friday, February 23 at the Red Lion Winter Beer Festival in Cricklade beginning at 8.15pm. For more details visit http://www.theukeydukes.co.uk/
