The New Year is in full swing at the Sunday farmers’ market at the Designer Outlet.

Winter on the farm and behind a stall is pretty tough going but there is still a great selection of produce available for customers looking to buy local.

All stalls selling either grow or rear their own produce or use local ingredients in their creations. This Sunday an old favourite returns after some time to boost the meat section. Hinton Marsh Farm are the firm regulars at the market, having been there since the first market, but Eadles Meats of Beckley proved popular in their previous stint at the market a couple of years ago with their offers on bulk buys of sausages, chops and chicken.

All meat is reared and processed at the farm in their own cutting room.

Elsewhere our hot food offer for a hearty lunch includes the famous Hinton Marsh hog roast, the vegan Funky Falafel and The Momo King and sweet pastries abound with Glamorose Cupcakes, Pippin Doughnuts, Tuga Pastries’ Pastel de Nata and La Parisienne Bakery.

Local pickler Auntie Caroline and the UK Fudge Company will also be in attendance and Paget’s Produce of Bromham will have a range of seasonal field vegetables. We have some artisan makers, too, with Vineyard Pottery and TVA Bespoke woodwork plus we welcome Swindon based Authentic Skincare to the market with handmade soaps including a range made with local Wiltshire honey.

Times have been hard for stallholders at the market for the past couple of years and producers are desperate to reconnect with the old customers who used to shop regularly. Traffic issues around the outlet means the best time to get there is first thing; aim for 10 and you won’t get stuck in the car park queues. The market runs from 10am to 4pm.
