THE last event of a seven-year-long project called Viva Trow Vegas went off in style on Sunday as dozens enjoyed a special tour around Trowbridge.

Tour guide ‘Megastar’, the celebrity persona of artist Meg Mosley, took more than 50 people on a tour around the Shires Shopping Centre, the museum, the town hall, the town park and the civic centre.

On the tour, the 37-year-old, who got a £1,500 Arts Council grant to fund this last stage of the project, took them on a humourous investigation into the impact of celebrity culture on towns such as Trowbridge.

Now a film will be made of all the projects she has completed over the seven years.

“It was the perfect swansong for Viva Trow Vegas,” she said.

“There’s something extraordinary about ordinary towns and when a town council supports and elevates the imagination of it’s artists I believe a real sense of creativity and community occurs.

"50 guests of every age from children to OAPs experienced the story of Trow Vegas through interactive experiences, sights and secret tours of buildings opened up just for them.

“I want to thank the town council for its stellar support, especially Aby Cooper. When town crier Trevor Heeks rang his bell and announced ‘With imagination and kindness we can achieve anything’ I knew this was very special.”
