A SERIAL sex offender is on the loose in Swindon.
Police are hunting for the man who is believed to be responsible for several indecent assaults, including four in one day.
Four women were approached and inappropriately touched by a man on Wednesday.
The first incident occurred at 4pm on a pathway between Westlea Drive and Welton Road. The second took place at the junction of Bristol Street and Church Place at around 6.20pm, the third at around 7.25pm on Crombey Street. The fourth happened at 7.40pm on Eastcott Hill between Savernake Street and Dixon Street.
The man responsible was seen on a mountain bike in three of these incidents and is believed to be white, aged 35 to 40, possibly Eastern European and of medium to large build, wearing a dark-coloured coat and a grey hooded top.
This spree is thought to be linked to a similar offence at the Whalebridge Car park between 6.20pm and 6.45pm on Saturday, February 17.
Since then, Wiltshire Police have received another report that a woman was indecently assaulted on February 17 at around 6pm near Swindon’s bus station.
In each case, the women were shaken and distressed but not physically injured.
Detective Constable James Roberts, of Wiltshire Police, said: “We believe all these incidents have been carried out by the same person, we would like anyone who recognises this man to come forward.
“We recognise that news of these incidents may cause concern within the community and we’d like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to identify the person responsible through detailed enquiries.
“While we don’t want anyone to feel worried, we would urge women, when out alone, to be vigilant and report anything suspicious immediately.
“If you heard or saw anything in these areas of town yesterday or over the weekend, please contact us. Also, we’d encourage any members of the public to report if they have been approached by this male or have witnessed him, or anyone matching his description, behaving in an inappropriate manner.”
If you can help or recognise the man in the CCTV images, please call 101.
