STAFF at a Cricklade Road care home are celebrating after being rated ‘Outstanding’ in a new report.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission liked what they saw when they visited Argyll House for an unannounced inspection.

Of the five key categories that make up the report, the home was rated ‘Good’ for safety, effectiveness and care, and ‘Outstanding’ for responsiveness and for being well-led.

The report notes that the service played a strong part in the local community, that feedback from other professionals about the home was very positive, that actions were taken to identify and carry out improvements, and the passionate staff carried out their duties in a warm and caring manner.

Jo Jarvis, care home manager, was thrilled.

She said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic, we’re so happy that all our hard work has paid off.

“It shows the dedication of our staff, the inspectors could see the marvellous job that the whole team do.

“Our 20 staff look after five people with profound learning disabilities who live here.

“This needs to feel like their home and we have the privilege of making sure they have a happy and fulfilled life.

“I think only two per cent of adult social care homes in the country get an ‘Outstanding’ rating so we’re really chuffed.

“It’s an amazing achievement and we’re very proud.”

Deborah Ivanova, deputy chief inspector for adult social care, said; “Argyll House is a service that’s committed to promoting a positive, inclusive and open culture.

“It is clear that the values and vision of the service have been adopted by the staff who are committed to supporting the residents to live as independently as possible.

“The ethos of the service is focused on allowing residents to overcome obstacles and achieve positive outcomes.

“The service was rated ‘Good’ overall after our previous inspection in October 2015 and I am delighted that the provision of compassionate, high quality, individualised care has continued to improve.

“The staff and management should be proud of their achievement in attaining our highest overall rating.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to them.”
