AN Old Town art gallery is to welcome enthusiasts to a new exhibition celebrating the medium of film.

Entitled Playback, the exhibition is a touring show in association with Random Acts, usually seen on Channel 4, which aims to promote the work of emerging artists from all across the country.

From tonight, for the next three weeks, there will be more than 200 three-minute films on show.

Mark Pepperall, owner of Oink Gallery and Hot Pepper Design in Victoria Road, is thrilled at the prospect of tonight’s big launch.

He said: “We want the gallery to be a creative space and we are keen to support anything to do with the arts. I am very excited about this project, I think it’ll be fantastic.

“The films are usually quite cutting edge and experimental, so I think people will find them very interesting and inspirational.”

The gallery is hosting the exhibition with Create Studios, a Swindon-based film company. The work will have been produced by artists between the ages of 16 and 24, highlighting the artistic talents among the nation’s youngsters.

Mark added: “It’s always exciting to bring things to new audiences and every time we do something different like this it gets really well received.

“We always think it’s important to support emerging artists from all over the country and it’s a pleasure to be able to offer this to people.”

The big launch kicks off at Oink Gallery from 6.30 until 8.30 tonight and everyone is welcome. It’s free entry and people are more than welcome to check out what else the gallery has to offer.
