A man accused of causing criminal damage to an ambulance belonging to South West Ambulance Service, assaulting a police officer and using racially-aggravated threatening behaviour is to be tried in Swindon Magistrates Court on April 23.

Dominic Chandler, aged 28, of no fixed address has been remanded on unconditional bail until the hearing.

Magistrates ordered a teenager to do 230 hours of unpaid work after he breached a restraining order preventing him from contacting a girl just weeks after it was imposed for harassment.

Jordan Huby, aged 18, of Deburgh Street, admitted contacting the girl on January 2 and committing an offence while on a community order. The Swindon bench made a new community order lasting 12 months and ordered him to pay a total of £170 towards victim services and court costs.

Driving a van in Swindon while disqualified earned Corinne Burgwin a 20-week prison sentence after magistrates heard she was already on three community orders and post prison sentence supervision.

It was also her third driving while disqualified offence within 18 months. The defendant, 37, of Bedwin Street, Salisbury also had no insurance when she drove the Ford Transit down County Road on September 25. She admitted both charges and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. The magistrates instructed Burgwin, also known as Allen, her to pay £115 to fund victim services.

A man who caused £400-worth of damage to a door at the Sandalwood Court place of safety facility has been ordered to pay it back in compensation.

Jason Harper, aged 31, of Culvery Court, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage during the incident on January 20, in which police had to use a CS spray on him. He also admitted assaulting a special constable and was fined £50. Swindon magistrates ordered him to pay £30 towards victim services but made no order for costs because of his lack of means.

Daniel Watson was given a 12-month conditional discharge after he pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a door lock belonging to a woman.

Watson, 27, from Drakes Way, was told by Swindon magistrates to pay a contribution of £20 towards victim services along with prosecution costs of £85.

A man accused of assaulting two police officers is to appear before Swindon magistrates on April 16.

Jason Bristow, aged 31, of Tuscan Road, Redhouse, is accused of assaulting a male PC and his female colleague on January 9. He denies the charges and has been given unconditional bail until the next hearing.

Swindon magistrates banned Vito Mazzotta from driving and ordered him to do 80 hours of unpaid work after he took a Landrover Discovery without the owner’s consent and damaged it.

Mazzotta, aged 20, of Brind Close, had no licence to drive and was not insured when he took the vehicle on December 9. He admitted all three charges and was given a 12-month community order. The bench also told him to pay £85 towards victim services and £85 in court costs.

Steven O’Brien will be in the dock at Swindon Magistrates Court on April 9 charged with two counts of threatening behaviour and making off without payment after a taxi ride.

One of the allegations of threatening behaviour is racially-aggravated. O’Brien, aged 53, of Holinshead Place, Grange Park, denies all three charges and has been given bail on the condition that he does not contact the witness and does not use SN1 taxis.
