To celebrate International Women’s Day 2018, an event called AMPLIFY Your Voice will take place on Thursday, March 8 at 6.30pm at Swindon’s Central Library.

The event has been organised by International Women’s Day Swindon.

The global event will see six women take part in the Swindon event talking about current local issues facing women.

They will share their personal experience of pushing for change and how they #PressforProgress.

The keynote speaker is Sarah Church, local activist, campaigner and Labour candidate.

Other members of the panel are Kelly Morgan, a professional boxer ranked world No.2, Mandy Thomas, Women’s Aid survivors ambassador, Trish Rawlins, a make-up artist working with cancer patients and local trauma and domestic violence groups; and Jen Hall from Swindon Feminist Network.

he panel will be hosted by Alex Morgan.

Jen Hall said she wanted to be part of the panel because celebrating the achievements of the Suffragettes 100 years ago is inspirational, but coming at the same time as #MeToo, we’re reminded we still have a long way to go.

A spokesman said: "The evening is called AMPLIFY Your Voice as the speakers draw attention to issues important to them, and each talk will educate, empower and inspire the audience members, so that everyone is encouraged to speak out..

"IWD Swindon is a volunteer-led, community based group that organizes an annual event to support and empower women and girls in Arts, Business and Community. The AMPLIFY Your Voice discussion has been a part of Swindon’s International Women’s Day celebration for the last three years."
