Budding wizards are invited to dress up in their best Hogwarts robes and test their knowledge of everything to do with Harry Potter.

The Harry Potter-themed night, which will be held at Central Library in Regent Circus on Tuesday night, is suitable for all ages and there will be fun for the whole family.

Teams of up to four people can take part in a quiz on all things Harry Potter to win prizes.

Fans of J K Rowling’s favourite wizard will be immersed in Central Library’s version of Hogwarts. Guests will get to make their way through Platform 9 and ¾ before being sorted into a Hogwarts House and getting to make their very own wand just like Mr Ollivander.

The night will also offer the chance to try out table top quidditch to earn house points and celebrate by tasting wizard delicacies like Butterbeer and Unicorn Juice.

There will also be the chance to take pictures with Dobby (no socks needed) and other Harry Potter props. As well as the opportunity to be on the run from Azkaban by making a WANTED poster.

Coun Mary Martin, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for Communities and Place, said: “I am delighted that Swindon Central Library is engaging with such a beloved series to put on the Harry Potter evening.

"The event will bring Central Library and the community together in a shared love of Harry Potter. The event promises to be an exciting night of magic themed fun.”

The Visitor Information Centre will be open until 6.30pm to sell Harry Potter-inspired merchandise to commemorate the night.

The event begins on Tuesday evening at 6pm and runs until 8pm. Tickets cost £5 for library members and £7 for non-library members and can be purchased from Central Library or by calling 01793 466454.
