BONSAI tree enthusiasts from all over the country descended on Stratton today as the Swindon and District Bonsai Society held its 16th annual Winter Image show.
Trees of all different shapes and sizes were on display as cultivators proudly showed them off to admirers.
The event, held at Grange Leisure, is a popular date in the diaries of all bonsai lovers.
Paul Bowerbank is the chairman of the Swindon and District Bonsai Society, and the event is always a buzz for him.
He said: “A lot of people find bonsai’s very therapeutic and restful. People look at them and imagine how they would look out in nature.”
Paul estimated that there were probably around 1,000 trees on display throughout the day.
“It’s great to see how much joy people get from admiring the trees,” he said.
“It can take more than 20 years to get the trees to the standard that you see here, and it’s wonderful to see so many.”
Bonsai varieties such as spruce, elm, maple and pomegranate were on show, presenting a seasonal look.
