THE MAN who died in Moredon on Monday morning has been named.

Paul Wilding, 56, was discovered in the grounds of sheltered housing block Park Farm on The Street.

Unsuccessful attempts were made to resuscitate the man, who lived locally. Paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 7.30am.

Friends have described Mr Wilding as a “lovely” man. A regular in nearby Boundary House pub, drinkers in the pub said he was a fan of the guest ales.

One Boundary House drinker, 51, who did not want to give his name, said of Paul: “He was great. He was always having a chat – he was friendly, a really great guy.”

Following the discovery of Mr Wilding’s body on Monday, police roped off the scene.

Forensics officers could be seen combing the area outside Park Farm on Monday afternoon, while a police search team returned the following day.

A post mortem investigation ordered in the wake of the death proved “inconclusive”, with detectives continuing to treat the death as unexplained.

Officers have appealed for any information that could help piece together the circumstances surrounding Mr Wilding’s death.

Detective Inspector Paul Hacker said:  "Our thoughts are with Paul's family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our enquiries are still on-going and we're re-appealing for anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the Park Farm area of Moredon, between Sunday evening and Monday morning, to come forward.

"We'd also like to hear from anyone who knew Paul and can help with our enquiries in anyway."
