A WOMAN shopper who was sexually assaulted as she stood at the checkout was taunted by her attacker as she walked home, Swindon magistrates heard.

The incident on September 19 was the subject of a police appeal that led to Liam Breski, 19, being arrested.

Anna Humphreys, prosecuting, said the woman went to a Premier shop at 6.30pm on September 19 and was at the till ready to pay when the door of the store opened and someone walked in behind her.

“She immediately felt her left buttock being squeezed.

“She looked behind her at the male, who grinned at her.”

Shaken, she gathered up the shopping she had just bought and left the shop. But as she walked home the male approached her riding a BMX bike. With a grin on his face, he said: “Your arse is awesome. That’s the best thing I’ve done all day.” Then he rode off in the direction of Pinehurst.

A police appeal was made and Breski was interviewed. He told police he could not remember being at the shop but when CCTV footage was played he admitted it could be him. He claimed he would never have done anything like it if he had been sober and suggested he must have been intoxicated with alcohol or drugs.

In a victim statement the woman said: “I couldn’t understand why this happened to me. It isn’t a normal thing to happen to anybody.”

Breski, of Daniels Court, pleaded guilty to sexual assault. His case was adjourned until March 23 for a pre-sentence report.
