BATTLES will be staged in Devizes on Sunday when the town's wargames group holds its open day.

Devizes and District Wargames Group will allow people to fight as a Viking warrion, pilot an X-Wing fighter or command a Second World War tank company between 2.15pm and 6pm.

The battle zone will be at the scout hut in Southbroom Road and include different battle scenarios from real life, cinema and comic books.

Games will include futuristic warfare with space marines from Warhammer 40K and a Viking skirmish as Danes raid British shores. Those taking part will be able to build a saga of bravery and plunder of take a seat in Odin's hall.

A spokesman for the club said: "We have been established for 46 years and currently there are 50 members. New members are always welcome on any Sunday afternoon at the Scout Hall, Southbroom Road, Devizes.

"The club holds weekend games on a regular basis and organises trips to places and events of interest to members. Annual membership is £25.00 for adults and £15.00 for junior members."

The club's biggest event of the year Attack! will be held at Devizes School on the weekend of July 21 and 22. It usually attracts gamers from far and wide who come to take on the very best the pastime has to offer.
