Rail replacement bus services in and out of Swindon are now all back up and running, rail operator GWR has said.

Earlier this morning all of the rail replacement services were cancelled due to dangerous driving conditions.

This afternoon GWR announced that buses were able to run between Swindon and Chippenham/Didcot Parkway along the Great Western Main Line route, but services remained out of action to Gloucester.

But it is understood that buses are now once again running on all routes, including Gloucester, although many are delayed.

A GWR spokesman said: "Owing to an improvement in the state of many of the roads, the bus services planned to operate between Reading/Didcot Parkway - Swindon - Gloucester/Bath Spa will now operate but will still be subject to delay, cancellation and curtailment at short notice.

"Additional time should be allowed for all journeys undertaken and customers are reminded that any connections cannot be guaranteed.

"Customers with unused tickets dated for today are able to use their tickets on Monday, March 19."

All trains through Swindon have been cancelled this week due to planned engineering work to make the line ready for the new electric trains.

Elsewhere on the rail network, GWR has warned of delays and cancellations to services.
