CREATIVES who are inspired by Wiltshire's wonderful landscape are being urged to enter for the Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize, which is now collecting works ready for an exhibition just off the Ridgeway itself.

The Ridgeway, which runs from near Avebury across the downs past Marlborough and Swindon and on through Oxfordshire to the Goring Gap, has wonderful views, and its powerful atmosphere has always appealed to the creative spark in artists.

The Friends of The Ridgeway established the Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize aiming to bring The Ridgeway to life not only as a long distance trail but as an artistic inspiration. The competition is open to works of painting, sculpture, photography and writing (poetry or prose), that show aspects of The Ridgeway, its history and environs, in any season.

Entries for the Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize will be exhibited on April 21 and 22 from 10am-5pm in the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall in Uffington, with the winners revealed on Sunday afternoon.

Entry to the exhibition is free. Refreshments will be available over both days. Please come along to view the exhibition.
