Getting away with it

I awake each morning determined to be positive about life.

Then I read about the latest capitulation of our spineless government in the face of the bully boys of Brussels.

Slowly, bit by bit, the democratic decision of the referendum is being eroded.

The electorate is being betrayed by the people who “know better than us”. People from all parties.

Unfortunately they will get away with it because there is no viable alternative.

It’s a battlefield

Parking on grass verges and pavements is anti-social and damages the property of Swindon council.

It is also against the law (TMA, Differential Parking, log 62).

There is so much of it going on that the council is missing out on a cash cow.

All they need to do is slap a ticket on them and enforce payment.

My road was always kept neat and tidy and the neighbours used to cut their own verges sometimes, but recently some new people moved in and they now park on the verge and it looks like the Somme battlefield.

Although I have reported it to the council nothing has yet been sorted. Come on, council sort it out!

Poor TV signal

I pay for my TV licence every month. Yet day after day I get either a fragmented signal or no signal at all.

This didn’t happen before we were all forced to “go digital” and it really annoys me. Despite many attempts to improve the signal with boosters I still get a drastically reduced service. A car going by 50 metres away blocks my signal. A plane going over ruins it for 30 seconds. Even a car door opening and closing outside my house will disrupt it. My fridge and even heating controls switching on and off can turn my screen to gibberish for ages.

We were forced to go digital with no consultation. Yet again the powers that be decided it was best for us. Can I claim a refund because of this? I know I’m not alone with this complaint.

It’s a travesty

Full time carers ‘get’ a carers allowance of just over £60 for a minimum of 35 hours a week. What a travesty!

Not that we do it for the money.
