Magistrates made James Govier the subject of a community order for 12 months after he pleaded guilty to assaulting three people including a police officer and a woman.

Govier, 35, of Anstie Close, Devizes carried out the assaults on December 30 in Swindon, the town’s magistrates heard. He also admitted possessing herbal cannabis. The bench ordered him to do 80 hours of unpaid work and pay £100 compensation to the police offer as well as £135 in court costs and victim services contributions.

A motorist caught driving a Mercedes on the M4 at Swindon with cannabis in his system has been banned from the roads for nearly three and-a-half years.

Patrick Oluseye, 28, of Morley Avenue, London, pleaded guilty to being over the drug driving limit when he was tested on December 12. He also admitted possession of the drug. Swindon magistrates fined him £230, banned him for 40 months and told him to pay £115 towards prosecution costs and victim services.

Bhavic Parmer was fined a total of £484 by Swindon magistrates after he pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing class A drugs at a house in Faringdon Road.

Parmer, 21, from Bridge Green, Birstall, Leicester, was found with two wraps of diamorphine and four of cocaine on April 25 last year, Swindon Magistrates Court heard. He was also ordered to pay £115 towards victim services and prosecution costs. The bench ordered the destruction of the drugs.

Swindon magistrates fined 32-year-old Jason Robb more than £600 when he admitted two counts of possessing drugs.

They heard Robb, also known by the name Roberts, of Swindon Road, Stratton, was caught with cocaine and cannabis on February 7. They ordered the destruction of the drugs and instructed Robb to pay £85 in prosecution costs with £30 towards victim services.
