RESIDENTS are being urged to jump on their bikes this Easter and explore Swindon’s cycle paths with a free cycle orienteering challenge.
Back by popular demand, Swindon Cycle Campaign have organised the event to encourage people to explore their local area by bike this Monday from 10am.
The cycle orienteering map allows cyclists to navigate their way around Swindon on traffic-free cycle paths and discover the town from the saddle of your bike.
A spokesman for Swindon Cycle Campaign said: "As part of a group or as an individual you can choose between 1, 2 or 3 hour rides, though you must be finished by 3pm. You collect orienteering points along the way and hand your points cards in at the checkpoint when you finish - prizes awarded for the three highest scores in each time category.
"All you need is a roadworthy bike, but we have volunteers on site to check it’s safe to ride. We also recommended that you carry a pump and a spare inner tube or puncture repair kit just in case. Lydiard Park are kindly hosting the event and cakes and refreshments will be available from the Stable Café."
