A BOY stabbed in Eldene is making a “good recovery”, police said.

The 17-year-old was rushed to Great Western Hospital by paramedics on Thursday – with police saying his condition was “life threatening”. It is understood that he was set upon by a gang of young men near Eldene Primary School, Colingsmead.

Detective Inspector Paul Hacker of Swindon CID said: “I am pleased to say the victim in the Eldene incident has made a good recovery and is no longer in a life-threatening condition”.

Police said that there was no link between the Eldene stabbing and a separate incident near the Oasis Leisure Centre on Monday afternoon that saw a man in his 30s “slashed” across the lower back. The victim of that second attack has already been discharged from hospital.

Det Insp Hacker said: “We believe these not to be random attacks by complete strangers – and believe that both victims may have known their attackers or at least know of them.

“We are carrying out detailed enquiries to try to catch the person or people responsible for both these incidents.

“We are still appealing for witnesses. If you can help with information, please contact Swindon CID on 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
