DETECTIVES are yet to make an arrest following last week’s Eldene stabbing.

However, armed officers have visited “several addresses” across Swindon in the past week in a bid to catch the culprits.

They include one Park North home just yards from Holy Family Catholic Primary School. The Marlowe Avenue home was raided by armed officers last Thursday on Saturday and again on Easter Monday.

One neighbour, 46, said: “It was really strange. I felt a little bit afraid. The policemen had big guns. I thought, ‘What’s happening?’”

Another man, 88, who has lived in the area for more than six decades, added: “I was amazed to see all these police cars. You never see one police car round here normally.”

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said that officers had visited the Marlowe Avenue home “along with other addresses in Swindon as part of our on-going investigation in to the incident in Eldene last week”.

“No arrests have been made yet,” he added.

Swindon detectives are working to solve two stabbings that took place over the Easter weekend.

On Thursday, a 17-year-old boy was attacked by a group of young men who chased him into the grounds of Eldene Primary School on Thursday at around 4pm.

Four days later, on Easter Monday, another man in his 30s received a “slash” wound to his back near the Oasis Leisure Centre.

Detectives do not believe the incidents are linked. Det Insp Paul Hacker of Swindon CID said: “We believe these not to be random attacks by complete strangers – and believe that both victims may have known their attackers or at least know of them.”

“I understand that local people will be feeling concerned. However, please be assured that Wiltshire Police takes these types of crimes incredibly seriously and we are carrying out detailed enquiries to ty to catch the person or people responsible for both these incidents.”
