A PENSIONER had her purse filched while she was at her local chippie.

The purse contained three valuable rings, including a engagement ring and wedding ring.

Hayley Westlake, local crime investigator at Wiltshire Police, said: "Although these rings have very little monetary value they carry a huge amount of sentimental value for the lady involved and she would desperately like to have them back."

Police said that the woman, who was in her 70s, was leaving the Superfry fish and chip shop, Regent Street, when she noticed the black purse was missing from her bag.

The purse contained three rings: an engagement ring with a gold band and single diamond; thin gold wedding ring; and a gold eternity ring with diamond hearts along the band's edges.

Officers believe the purse was taken while the woman was in the fish and chip shop on Friday, March 16, between 2.15pm and 3,15pm.

Ms Westlake said: "If you know of the whereabouts of these rings or have any information which could lead to the return of this jewellery, please contact me on 101."
