OFFICERS involved in arrested a pair from London following a car chase in Chippenham are appealing for dash cam footage.

The men, who were in their 20s, were arrested in York Close yesterday afternoon after two officers attempted to stop their silver Audi A3 in Melksham.

When the vehicle failed to stop, police pursued the vehicle along Forest Road, through Lacock and on to the A350 towards Chippenham.

The car was later found abandoned in Sandown Drive and the men were later arrested in York Close.

Class A drugs were also located within the vehicle and an alleyway close to the scene.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have caught the pursuit on CCTV or their dash cams.

PC Joe Shanklin said: “We believe the vehicle was abandoned and the occupants decamped at approximately 1.05pm in Sandown Drive. This is a built up residential area, near to Sainsbury's, and this was lunchtime – there would have been people in the area.

“What we really need is any dash cam footage from anyone who was driving the route from Melksham to Chippenham, via Lacock, yesterday afternoon, especially anyone who was near to Sainsbury's, or in Sandown Drive around this time, who may have footage of the vehicle.

"As well as this, we’d also appeal to any residents who may have CCTV at their address which also could have captured the vehicle.”

The two men, who were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, possession of class A drugs and an offensive weapon, have since been released under investigation while enquiries are further carried out.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
