FELINES of all colours, shapes and sizes will be invading the Cricklade Town Hall for a championship Cat Show on Saturday.

Owners of pedigree and non-pedigree cats are vying for the attention of both the public and a panel of judges to claim prizes for their pets.

Barbara McEwan, who has run the Black and White Cat Club show with her husband Stewart for the past five years, said: “We’ve got 57 entries this year with British and Exotic Shorthairs and Persians. People will get to see all different types of cats at the show.

“We’ve been showing and breeding cats ourselves for 38 years - I love cats, dogs, and all sorts of animals.”

The town hall will be open to the public from 12.30 to 4.30pm where they will be invited to inspect the cats, place a vote in the people's choice category, and shop for products at stalls. Last year a local plant nursery even sold cat-shaped plants to visitors.

Owners of winning cats will net a goodie bags containing treats, blankets and toys for their furry friends.

Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions. Funds will go towards the running of the club which was established in 1902.
