HORSESHOE Amateur Boxing Club received funding boost a from two businesses shortly after it relocated to the town centre.

Tony Stevens from Svensoni and Karl Paul from Smarter Media donated a total of £1,400 to the club in its new home near the Brunel Shopping Centre.

Rob, the club's head coach, said: "Tony and Paul have been with us for some years and I'd like to thank them very much

"Our club used to be at Crow Wood House and that's where their old offices were, and each year they'd come up and help out.

"They were up here when this room was full of pellets and the windows were black.

"The state of this place before we moved in was so bad it took two lorries and three skips of rubbish to empty it.

"It's a big venture, but it's come good, it's unbelievable how it looks now."

More than 35 youngsters attend the club and compete in amateur matches all over the country.

The club will have its official opening night on Friday April 27 from 8pm, with special guests including Robert Buckland MP.
