A TEENAGER was assaulted in Haydon Wick on Tuesday evening.

The 19-year-old man was shouted at by two other teenagers at the junction of Blunsdon Road and Pond Street just after 8pm.

The pair then hit him in the head in what appears to be an unprovoked attack and kicked him after he fell to the floor.

Fortunately, a member of the public intervened and shouted at the offenders, who got back on their bikes and rode away towards Pond Street.

He helped the injured man get to safety, then the police and paramedics were called.

The victim was treated at Great Western Hospital for facial injuries.

The suspects are described as white, aged in their mid to late teens, approximately 5'10 and of thin build.

They both wore hooded jackets with the hoods up and had mountain bikes.

PC Jack Newman is appealing for anyone with information on this incident to come forward.

He would particularly like to hear from anyone who was in the area on Tuesday April 17 and saw two people matching that description.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Newman at Gablecross Police Station on 101.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111, where details may be left anonymously if preferred.
