Comedy star siblings for BBC Three sensation This Country wins Bafta just days after announcing there will be another series and a one off special.

Daisy and Charlie Cooper won the category of breakthrough talent last night [April 22] and also received a nomination for comedy writer.

The duo won three awards from the Royal Television Society last month for their hit mockumentary This Country and the honours just keep on stacking up.

In their acceptance speech the pair gave their thanks and stated how the show saved their lives.

“Just being here is amazing so thank you Bafta for that. There is a lot of people who work so hard on the show and it means the world to us.”

The two main characters of the show Daisy and Charlie Cooper are relatives not just in the comedy but also in real life. Actress and writer Daisy plays leading lady Kerry, while her brother Charlie plays Kerry’s cousin, Kurtan.

The series, which has just finished its second season on BBC3, follows the lives of the hapless pair in a typical Cotswold village. Filmed in Northleach, it had a gentle dig at Swindon’s Tk Maxx when Kurtan’s character wanted to go there to get the bargains but when he eventually did all the ‘good stuff’ was gone.

Daisy and Charlie, who went to Deer Park School, still live in Cirencester.

Other winners included Game of Thrones, which was awarded the Special Award, Black Mirror won special, visual and graphic effects and The Crown won two awards for photography and lighting but also the sound award.

The second series of This Country is now available on BBC iPlayer.
