The popular summer season of Culture and Cream Teas at the Richard Jefferies Museum kicks off this Sunday with a session called Matisse and the Art of Nature Cut-outs.
The free event from 1pm till 5pm at the Swindon museum welcomes families who would like a relaxing and creative afternoon - along with a scone and a dollop of jam and cream.
During the last decade of his life, the artist Matisse used white paper and gouache - along with a pair of scissors - to create colourful plants, animals, figures and forms. In the session at the museum, youngsters and adults can try their hand and imagination at creating their own natural forms inspired by Matisse, using the garden for ideas too.
The Culture and Cream Teas sessions will run every Sunday afternoon from now till the end of September, with a wide range of cultural and creative activities on the programme. On Bank Holiday Monday from 11am till 3pm, another family event called the Wild Animals of Richard Jefferies will include all sorts of fun and creative activities, with tickets at £3.
