IT'S taken 15 years and a lot of hard work but the nursery at Great Western Hospital has finally won an outstanding rating from inspectors.

The Cooperative Childcare was praised for its quality of management and the progress made by children in its care by Ofsted.

Nursery manager Tracy Rundle said: “We're all delighted to finally get the result we have worked so hard to get, not least because it is an official recognition of all the hard work put in by our staff team.

“We have always received a ‘good’ grading. Each time we've got slightly closer to getting that longed-for outstanding. We've finally got there.”

Tracy has been working towards the goal alongside deputy manager Hayley Fletcher since the nursery opened in 2003. As part of the Midcounties Co-operative, the service offers childcare for parents who work at the hospital as well as for families across the town. It is now in the middle of an extension that will see the occupancy increase from 68 places to 112, which is due to be finished this August.
