Swindon Croquet Club will be holding a special event on Sunday May 13 to celebrate National Croquet Day.

The club is inviting new players of all ages and abilities to attend and try the sport out for themselves, with free coaching and equipment available.

Mayor Maureen Penny will open proceedings at 10am.

Swindon North MP Justin Tomlinson and Swindon South MP Robert Buckland will also be visiting later that day and having a go at croquet.

The event will be held on Moredon Playing fields in Cheney Manor, opposite Manor Garden Centre, and lasts until 4pm.

Croquet is a game of strategy and skill where, using a long handled mallet, players hit balls through a series of hoops, or try to stop their opponent.
