A FABULOUS family day of circuses and stories, of print-making and poems, will unfold at the Swindon Festival of Literature’s Children and Families Day on Sunday.

Look out for a host of superb story-tellers, colourful characters and creative opportunities at Lower Shaw Farm between 10am and 4pm.

John Row will be sitting by a campfire for storytelling. John has told tales at Glastonbury and across four continents, and is currently collecting stories from Transylvania - so gather round the fire to hear tales from around the world.

Visit a cosy circus caravan and meet Dea Birkett, as well as Hilda’s Happy Hut where Hilda Sheehan keeps dressing up clothes, poems and walks. Vicky Hirsch is running a print-making workshops and Darine and Jacob will be teaching circus skills such as hula hoop and juggling.

Author Cat Weatherill has action, rhymes and stories for four to six year olds from 11.30am, and Dr Irving Finkel will be sharing a story from ancient Mesopotamia, The Lifeboat that Saved the World.

And if that were not enough, look out for a treasure hunt, a time for talking with the animals, a space for reading and writing, and opportunities for rope-swinging and hammock jumping in the big barn. Then roll up, roll up for a lively finale, when newly acquired circus skills may be tried out before audience, at 3pm.

Tickets cost £5 per adult and £4 for children, and snacks and lunches are available at the farm, in west Swindon.
