HIGHWORTH planning applications have been considered by the town's council.

Councillors discussed an application for The Fox Inn on Swindon Street to be extended and converted into five flats and two houses (reference: S/18/0454/TB).

Coun Nick Gardiner said: "I'm in favour of having more one-bedroom or two-bedroom properties in Highworth."

Coun Pauline Webster said: "There was an objection from Highways about the parking - my worry is the traffic, it's already horrendous there"

Coun Keith Smith said: "Five flats seems too many it would be very squashed and overrun, the parking places aren't big enough to actually fit a car."

Councillors recommended that the application be refused, and they defer to the Highways and conservation officers.

An application to erect a single-storey rear extension to a house in Botany (reference: S/HOU/18/0589/CHHO) was also discussed.

Coun Charles Adams pointed out that it appears to have already been built but the application is not retrospective.

They recommended that the application be refused.

An application to change stables to ancillary residential accommodation at Church View Cottage on Severnhampton Lane in Severnhampton (reference: S/18/0519/CHHO) will be deferred to conservation officers.
