HUNDREDS of homebuyers in Swindon have used the Help to Buy to purchase their next house.

The latest government figures revealed that 1,395 Swindonians and 2,489 people in the rest of Wiltshire have used the scheme since it launched in April 2013.

Help to Buy has been particularly vital to help first time buyers onto the property ladder, with this sector accounting for 81 per cent of sales.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director for Barratt Homes, said the scheme has been a real game-changer.

She said: “There’s no doubt that Help to Buy has proved extremely valuable for so many first-time buyers and we’re thrilled that we’ve been able to play our part with these buyers now living at a number of our new developments in the area.”

Help to Buy enables anyone to put down just five per cent as a deposit for their new home and to take advantage of a government equity loan together with access to more affordable mortgage rates.

Barratt Homes is currently working on new developments in Wiltshire including The Rushes, Stratton Gate and Blunsdon Mead in Swindon.
